Q) We have a bulk tank on site and would like to better manage the control of our fuel. What product would be best for us to buy in order to do this?
AFS, the leading fuel management technology suppliers, would recommend automation in the tank, on the nozzle and on the fleet. It is important to note that if you decide to automate one area of your fuel control, you should automate all areas thereby minimizing possible risk and closing the loop. Feel free to read up on the products available and apply on line for more information or request one of our consultants to call you
Q) We use dipsticks to measure the level of fuel in our bulk tank. Is there a better way of doing this?
Yes, definitely! AFS / Gilbarco Veeder Root have introduced a product to both the retail and commercial markets which enables not only electronic level measurement (of both product and water) but also automated reconciliation as well as leak detection. See our product page detailing Tank Gauging. Every drop counts.
Q) Once I have installed your product/s, who provides me with my reporting?
For on road refueling, your Bank/Oil Company would provide you with your financial transaction data and AFS would provide you with comprehensive fuel management reporting. For home base refueling, AFS would provide all the transaction data in a format and delivery method suitable to your needs.
Q) I have quite a few technical questions around automation, where can I find the answers?
If you browse a little more on this web site you will notice that we have an 'apply on line' link which allows you to send us your details and / or any questions. One of our representatives will get back to you in due course. If you are the customer of an Oil Company / Bank, feel free to ask your Representative who will then get in touch with AFS. We look forward to meeting you.
Q) Do you guarantee a saving on my monthly fuel spend?
Ask yourself, How well do I currently manage my fleet and do I have my finger on the pulse? In this day and age, how do you measure a well managed fleet? Do you manage consumptions? fuel spend ? or simply the bulk fuel account? By installing any of the AFS products you are no longer relying on human intervention to authorize fuel dispensing. You no longer need to manually capture refueling information and so the data provided to you, is accurate and credible. For that reason alone, you should see a difference to your bottom line. The system ensures that YOUR vehicle was on the forecourt and DID INFACT receive fuel. With eFuel there is no fueling around!
Q) When the refueling data is captured automatically, why would I have a discrepancy with the odometer reading on my vehicle versus that given by the system?
There are a number of reasons why this might occur and, amongst these there is the possiblity that the VIU is programmed with an incorrect factor. A simple recalibration of the VIU would bring the two readings back in sync.
Q) What is eFuel and how does it work?
eFuel is a card free refueling technology which preauthorizes a transaction before it takes place. No human intervention is required to, identify the vehicle, authorize, record the refueling information or settle the transaction. This all takes place electronically. An electronic 'hand shake' occurs between the filler ring on the vehicle and an antennae on the nozzle, thus enabling refueling to commence. No cards or cash are required and the electronic capture of all refueling information makes this system accurate and reliable, leaving no room for human error.
Q) My refueling requirements are only on road, will every retail service station offer eFuel?
eFuel has been installed in almost 800 service stations throughout South Africa and across border into Namibia. Visit the link efuel.info and have a look at the great coverage the network offers, you'll be 'conveniently' surprised.
Q) Can you still commit Fuel Fraud if your vehicle is eFuel equipped?
Remember, eFuel does not prevent fuel fraud, it only aids in preventing it and offering early detection of fraudulent transactions. With eFuel, the vehicle is recognized at the pump and every drop of fuel that goes into the vehicle is electronically recorded, leaving little room for unauthorized purchases like the filling of a second vehicle, amongst other things. The system confirms the vehicle was on the forecourt and received the fuel irrespective of whether or not your driver can produce the petrol slip.
Q) Is eFuel the same product as e-Tag?
eFuel is an automated refueling payment solution used on retail forecourts as well as home base depots. The eTag system is an electronic form of payment used at various Toll gates throughout South Africa. eFuel and e-Tag have no similarity whatsoever.
